The Mallards went off on a scoring frenzy against the last place La Crosse Loggers Sunday night in an 11-3 beating at the Duck Pond. Madison scored runs in the second through sixth innings, including three in the second and third.

Several Mallards players who typically do not see time in the batter’s box had a chance to dig in, as Field Manager C.J. Thieleke gave some of his top guns some rest after the win was secured. Blake Eller, Michael Hutts, Eryk McConnell and Scott Heitshusen each had an at-bat but did not record a hit. Even Mitch Saum, who has been out of the Mallards lineup since July 9 with sickness, made an appearance, replacing Bobby Hubbard.

Eight different Madison players recorded a hit and five Mallards had two hits apiece. Brandon Wikoff extended his hitting streak to 15 games, having a pair Saturday to complement his three runs. Randy Molina earned Player of the Night honors with his 2-for-3 appearance for two runs and two RBIs. Evan LeBlanc (pictured) was right behind with a 2-for-4 night, driving in one and scoring twice.

Jim Sajewich (W, 2-3), who made his second appearance in the current starting rotation, took his second-consecutive victory, going 6.0 innings, allowing six hits, two runs (both earned), walking three and striking out one.
