It’s now official. With the Mallards’ ninth consecutive victory, along with losses from Green Bay, Eau Claire and Wisconsin, Madison has entered the Northwoods League postseason race. The ninth win came in another low-scoring pitcher’s duel between Madison’s Trevor Feeney and Waterloo’s Scott Shaw. Adam Pasono laid a sacrifice bunt down the first-base line in the bottom of the 11th, which snuck by the defense into the outfield to score Brandon Wikoff from first base. The game ended 2-1 to improve the Ducks’ second-half record to 15-8.

Feeney (W, 4-3) earned a career-high seven strikeouts on eight innings of work, allowing only a pair of hits and no runs.
