Battle Creek, Mich – The Mallards scored three quick first inning runs, and the bullpen threw three innings of no-hit ball to beat Battle Creek 6-2 in front of 677 fans at C.O. Brown Stadium. The win extends the team’s season-high winning streak to 11 games and moves its record to 4-1 against the expansion Bombers. Starting pitcher Scott Heitshusen (W,5-4) had another quality start, pitching six innings, only allowing two runs. Center fielder Evan LeBlanc smacked two run-scoring singles to drive in two RBI’s for the charging Mallards.

Relievers Steve Gilgenbach, Brett Scarpetta, and Bubba O’Donnell recorded the last nine outs without allowing a hit. Only one Bomber player was able to reach first base during that span.

The Mallards have won 15 of its last 16 games.

Did you know? Randy Molina (.344 batting average)and Bobby Hubbard (38 RBI’s) both rank third in the league in their respective categories…The Mallards are now the second best hitting team (.263), three weeks removed from being ranked #11.
