(ROCHESTER, MN) The Northwoods League announced that Marc Jerzak, Vice President of the St. Cloud River Bats, has been named 2007 Executive of the Year. The award, which was decided by a vote of team officials at the league’s annual fall meetings last week in Green Bay, WI, is given annually to the league’s outstanding executive.

“Marc has worked his way up the ladder and now been rewarded by his peers for his outstanding efforts. It is an honor he is truly deserving of,” said Dick Radatz, Jr., Northwoods League President.

Jerzak, 28, recently completed his sixth season in St. Cloud and seventh in the Northwoods League overall. He began as an intern for the Alexandria Beetles in 2001 before spending the following three years with the River Bats as Assistant General Manager. He was promoted to General Manager in 2005 and held that title until the spring of this year when he took on the role of Vice President.

“This award celebrates a tremendous year and is a direct reflection of the entire River Bats organization,” Jerzak said. “The 2007 achievements were truly a team effort. Joel Sutherland, Ryan Voz and the entire staff all contributed to make the 2007 season a success.”

Jerzak, along with River Bats’ Owner/General Manager Sutherland and Vice President Voz, began the 2007 season by successfully moving the franchise into a new ballpark and finished the season as Northwoods League Champions for the third time in the team’s 11 year history.

The Northwoods League plays more games, draws more fans, and plays in better venues than any Summer Collegiate Baseball League in North America. The league will begin its 15th season of play on May 29, 2008.
