Madison, WI – August 23, 2008. The third-annual Mallards/MLB Alumni Game ended in a 4-4 tie Saturday night as former “Duck Pond” star Jordan Comadena led all hitters with two run-scoring doubles. Comadena and his Maynard’s All-Stars teammates found themselves down by two heading into the seventh and final frame, but responded with RBI hits by former big leaguers Danny Cox (Cardinals), and Brad Woodall (Brewers), to tie the game at four. Neither team was able to muster a run in the eighth inning. Current Mallards Manager C.J. Thieleke paced Steve Schmitt’s All-Stars with a line drive single in the third inning to begin a rally.

As soon as gates opened at 4:00 p.m., a steady stream of fans rushed to the tents in the tailgate area to seek autographs from their favorite baseball idols. Both children and adults of all ages had sharpies and rare memorabilia in-hand, chomping at the bit to get that coveted signature.

The Mallards would like to extend great thanks to Jay Johnstone for helping coordinate player appearances and to the fans who attended and made the event a success.

Thanks to everyone who attended Mallards games this past season…we’ll see you in 2009! Stay tuned to Mallardsbaseball.com as we recap the year that was and look ahead to next season!
