Madison, WI – April 13, 2009. The Madison Mallards Baseball Team, Madison Parks, and the Madison Parks Foundation are teaming up to host the first ever ‘Remarkable Rubber Ducky River Race’ at Tenney Park on the Yahara River. The fun-filled event will be on May 16 from 2pm – 4pm and all proceeds of the event will benefit the Goodman Pool scholarship fund.
To enter a Rubber Ducky in the Remarkable River Race, there is a $1 entrance fee. There will be a limited number of Rubber Ducky’s available for purchase so we encourage event-goers to get there as early as possible. Based on the turnout for the event there may be several “heats” with a final race pitting the top contestants against each other. All age groups are welcome to participate. The first 500 participates will get to keep a Rubber Ducky as a keepsake from the event. Prizes for the Remarkable Rubber Ducky River Race will range from passes to the Goodman Pool, to Mallards tickets & more. The grand prize for the winner of the Remarkable Rubber Ducky River Race will be a party for 10 at the Duck Pond on Opening Day (June 1) including the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, 10 great seats for the game & a $100 gift card.
“Madison Parks is excited to team up with the Madison Mallards and the Madison Parks Foundation for this event,” says Kevin Briski, Madison Parks Superintendent.
“Strong partnerships, such as this, make for a vibrant Madison park system.”
In addition to the Rubber Ducky Race, Maynard G. Mallard will be on hand to greet fans, and kids can test their skills with the Mallards Speed Pitch, T-Ball game & Maynard’s Bounce House.
The Mallards 2009 Season opens up with an exhibition game vs. the Swedish National Team on May 27 & the Regular Season Home Opener is June 1 at 7:05 vs. the Rochester Honkers.
