Madison, WI – May 5, 2009. Obviously you’re not a golfer! The Madison Mallards are excited to announce that Jeff Dowd, the inspiration for the character “the Dude” in the cult-hit film “The Big Lebowski” will make an appearance at the Duck Pond on Friday, July 24!

Presented by Dream Lanes off Stoughton Road, “Big Lebowski Night” will feature Dowd signing autographs & posing for pictures before the game. Then, immediately following the game, Dowd will provide commentary while the movie is shown in its entirety at Dream Lanes. Fans will also have the chance to bowl on one of the bowling center’s 38 lanes!

The 1998 comedy was written and directed by the famous Coen brothers and starred actor Jeff Bridges as “The Dude,” an unemployed Los Angeles slacker and avid bowler.

Dowd is a Los Angeles-based writer/producer, producer’s representative, and a nationally recognized authority on marketing, distribution, and exhibition. According to JeffDowd.com he has owned the nickname “the Dude” since kindergarten with it so closely resembling his last name.

Don’t want to drive? Every Friday will feature a free shuttle to the “Duck Pond” 30 minutes prior to gametime (6:30 p.m.) from both the Nitty Gritty (downtown) & Boston’s Restaurant & Sports Bar (Middleton). The bus will return fans back to these locations immediately following the game. You can’t beat that!
