Madison, WI – July 9, 2009. With the forecast calling for a chance of rain on Friday, the Mallards have decided to offer all fans in attendance, even those seated in box, bleacher, and standing room only areas, the opportunity to receive a free Great Dane Duck Blind ticket in the case that the game is canceled due to inclement weather.
If the game is canceled, fans must still be present at the “Duck Pond” to receive a voucher that can be exchanged for a Great Dane Duck Blind ticket. Vouchers will be accepted for one of the following dates; Sunday, July 12 (game two, 6:05 p.m.), Thursday, July 16 (7:05 p.m.), Sunday, July 19 (5:05 p.m.), Thursday, July 23 (7:05 p.m.), and July 31 (Home Talent All-Star Game, 7:05 p.m.). Vouchers will only be distributed if the game is cancelled at the Duck Pond and will only be available Friday night. Voucher exchange for tickets will be based on availability on a nightly basis.
When the voucher* is redeemed fans will receive a Duck Blind ticket good for unlimited soda and food, but will have the opportunity to upgrade to include beer for only $5 more. The ticket will not be valid for any other dates, or carry any cash value. Each individual fan will be able to redeem one ticket.
*Can be redeemed day of game only
Mallards G.M. Vern Stenman had this to say about the event:
“We haven’t canceled a game in over four years at the Duck Pond! However, we’ve had a lot of games this year and in the past that the crowd has been scared off because of the threat of rainy weather, what I think fans are forgetting is that Mallards love the water! We want to give fans a fun incentive to not buy into the rhetoric from the local weatherman and come on out to the Duck Pond and enjoy some great baseball, even if they get a bit wet. We’re willing to bet over $140,000 (Duck Blind tickets are valued at $20-$25 each & capacity is 7,500) worth of tickets that fans will see some baseball Friday Night, we wouldn’t take this kind of gamble if we didn’t feel pretty confident that “Play Ball” would be heard on Friday night!”
Gates for Friday night’s game will open at 5:30 p.m. with the first pitch beginning at 7:05 p.m. Join us for Bud Light Hockey Night with a special appearance by Steve Carlson, an original Hanson Brother from the movie Slap Shot! The first 750 adults, 21 & over will receive a Bud Light Uniform Can Cooler!
