First baseman Harold Riggins (NC State) and former Mallards catcher Ben Long (UW-Milwaukee) were selected to the 2009 Northwoods League All-Star Team & both will participate in the Home Run Derby set for Tuesday, July 21 at 3:00 p.m. (CST)
Madison, WI – July 14, 2009. Madison Mallards first baseman Harold Riggins (NC State) has been invited to participate in the 2009 Northwoods League Home Run Derby set for Tuesday, July 21 at 3:00 p.m. (CST) at Port Arthur Stadium in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.
Riggins has eight home runs and a league-leading 40 RBI on the season. He is just eight RBI short of tying the Mallards single-season RBI mark set by Rob Lyerly (Charlotte) a year ago.
Former Mallard catcher Ben Long (UW-Milwaukee) was also selected to play in the Mid-Season All-Star Game and will represent the Woodchucks in the home run competition as well.
The competition will consist of two 10-out rounds with the top 4 home run totals advancing to the second round.

Riley Henricks, Green Bay (Portland) – 4 home runs & 20 RBI
