Madison, WI – August 25, 2009. Thanks to an ensemble of home runs hit by the Mallards this past summer at the “Duck Pond,” West Bend Mutual Insurance Company has made a record donation of $6,300 to the United Way.
For every home run hit at home this past season, West Bend donated $50 to the United Way. The Mallards hit a record 32 home runs, totaling $1,600 in contributions. Madison’s previous season-high for long balls hit, both home-and-away, was 24 set in 2003.
And for every run scored at home, West Bend donated $25. The Mallards scored 188 runs at the “Duck Pond,” totaling $4,700 in contributions.
