Madison, WI – January 25, 2010. A familiar face is back with the Madison Mallards. Conor Caloia, who worked for the organization from 2003 to 2006, has been named General Manager heading into the team’s tenth season in the Northwoods League. The former GM, Vern Stenman, will now serve as President of both the Mallards and the new franchise in Wisconsin Rapids both he and Steve Schmitt purchased in December.

Said Caloia, “It is an exciting time to be a part of this organization. I am looking forward to a great 2010 season at the Duck Pond.”

Stenman shares Caloia’s enthusiasm as the team plans to celebrate a rather impressive ten-year run this upcoming season.

“The addition of Conor in combination with our existing front office staff gives us an unprecedented amount of experience working in summer collegiate baseball and we feel very strongly that 2010 will be better than ever,” said Stenman.

Caloia rejoins the Mallards after most recently serving as the Director of Operations of the Wilmington Sharks of the summer collegiate Coastal Plain League. Under his management, the Sharks hosted the 2009 CPL All-Star Game and were named the 2009 CPL Organization of the Year.

Prior to moving to Wilmington, Caloia worked as the Director of Marketing at the Western Athletic Conference. At the WAC he was responsible for developing marketing, branding, and promotional campaigns for the Division I conference.

Caloia started with the Mallards as an intern before working his way up to becoming the team’s Assistant General Manager in 2006.

He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a B.A. in Journalism with a focus in Strategic Communication. A newlywed, Conor was married in August to wife Rachel. Caloia is originally from St. Charles, Illinois.
