jordan parr storyMadison, WI – February 28, 2012.  The Mallards have announced the signing of redshirt sophomore infielder Jordan Parr from the University of Illinois.

Parr, a 6’2″, 195 pound infielder will follow in the footsteps of his two brothers by signing with the Mallards.  Older brother Josh starred for the Mallards in 2010 and was a Northwoods League All-Star before being drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2011.  He spent 2011 in the Rookie Pioneer League with the Missoula Ospreys.  Twin brother Justin joined the Mallards late in the 2010 season, and returned for the entirety of the 2011 season.

Jordan will join the Mallards after his first season at the University of Illinois.  In 2011 Jordan played for Parkland College and hit .355 with 32 RBIs while also scoring 50 runs.  He also starred defensively, with a .988 fielding percentage.

“I expect Jordan to be an important contributor to the middle of our line-up this summer and hold down either of the corner infield positions,” said Mallards Manager Greg Labbe.  “Jordan is a perfect fit to the club we have comprised this summer because he has tremendous character and is extremely familiar with the Mallards having had his brothers play here the past two summers.”

Parr attended Illinois Central Valley High School where he was named All-North Central Illinois Conference in 2009 and helped lead the Grey Ghosts to a second place finish at the 2008 IHSA Class 2A State Tournament.

The Mallards will host their season opener against the Battle Creek Bombers on May 30th at 7:05 pm at the “Duck Pond.”  Single game tickets go on sale April 28th.

The Madison Mallards are part of the 16-team Northwoods League.  The Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other Summer Collegiate Baseball League in North America.
