Madison, WI – April 9, 2012. The Mallards have announced the signing of sophomore outfielder Tyler Marincov from the University of North Florida and junior infielder Tom Lally from Central Michigan University.

“Tyler was a very sought after quarterback coming out of high school that chose the baseball route instead,” said Mallards Manager Greg Labbe. “He is extremely athletic and strong and those two attributes alone should help him be successful in our league. He is gifted enough to play center field for us, but I would expect him to spend most of his time in right field. Tyler can drive the ball to all fields and given the dimensions of the ‘Duck Pond’ he could put up some really strong offensive numbers for us this summer.”
He attended Timber Creek High School where was a Four-Year Letterwinner. He led his team to one state semi-final appearance and was named First-Team All-State in 2009. He was also named All-District in 2010, All-Area in 2009 and 2010, and was the 6A District 10 Player of the Year in 2010. He is majoring in criminal justice at North Florida.

“Tom is a quick twitch athlete that can play a number of positions for us,” said Labbe. “I am counting on him to hold down second base most of the season, but he is more than capable of playing third or even center field. He is a top of the order guy that can bunt, drive the ball in the gaps, and steal a base when we need him to. He is hard nosed and I expect him to be a leader on this team.”
Lally went to De La Salle Institute where he earned Chicago Catholic League Honors as a senior in 2009 after hitting .333 with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs.
The Mallards will host their season opener against the Battle Creek Bombers on May 30th at 7:05 pm at the “Duck Pond.” 7-Game Packs, season, and group tickets are on sale now! Single-game tickets go on sale April 28th.
The Madison Mallards are part of the 16-team Northwoods League. The Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other Summer Collegiate Baseball League in North America.
