Madison, WI – April 30, 2012.  The Mallards have announced the signing of sophomore right-handed pitcher Danny Sullivan from Madison College and junior right-handed pitcher Pat Kaminska from Central Michigan University.

Danny Sullivan head shot - madison college - roster pageSullivan, a 6’1″, 210 pound pitcher from Dodgeville, Wisconsin will join the Mallards after his first season with the Wolfpack.  So far in 2012, he is 6-0 with a 2.39 ERA in eight appearances, including seven starts.  He has fanned 40 batters in just 37.2 innings pitched.

“Danny has a chance to be really good for us either as a starter or even a closer,” said Mallards Manager Greg Labbe.  “I don’t really know where we will use him yet, but he may have some of the best stuff on our staff.  He can run his fastball into the low-90’s, but his curveball is what makes him so effective.  I think if Danny establishes himself at the back of the bullpen he should be really good for us.”

Sullivan attended nearby Dodgeville High School where he was a four-year letterwinner for coach Brian Bradley’s team.  He is a liberal arts major at Madison College.

Pat Kaminska Head Shot - Central Michigan - Roster PageKaminska, a 6’3″, 215 pound pitcher originally from Phoenix, Arizona is also in his first season at Central Michigan.  So far in 2012, he is 3-2 with a 3.09 ERA in 13 appearances, including four starts.  Prior to Central Michigan he attended John A. Logan College in Carterville, IL.  In 2011, he had a 7-3 record and 2.60 ERA in 13 starts.

“Pat is a very experienced arm that knows how to compete and win,” said Labbe.  “He pitches in the upper 80’s with his fastball, which is complimented with a curveball and change-up.  What set’s him apart is how he attacks hitters.  Pat can pitch out of the bullpen, but I expect him to compete for a starting role for us this summer.”

Kaminska spent 2011 with the Red Rocks of the Arizona Summer Collegiate League where he was named League Pitcher of the Year after going 3-1 with a 0.72 ERA.

He attended Naperville Central High School in Naperville, Illinois where he holds the state record for doubles in a game with four.  He was a four-year letterwinner and was a Naperville All-City Team selection in 2008 and 2009.  He led his team to a regional title in 2009.
