Madison, WI – June 29, 2012. After a stellar year in his debut collegiate season Mallards catcher and third basemen Jose Trevino (Oral Roberts) was chosen as a member of the collegiate Team USA as an alternate player. The Corpus Christi, Texas native will play out his stint with Team USA before returning to the Mallards.

Trevino has been absent from the lineup since his three-run home run against the Lakeshore Chinooks on Friday, June 22 at Kapco Park. Following that game the hard-hitting Trevino flew to Cary, North Carolina to join the Collegiate Team USA.

So far this season Trevino, is hitting .225 with 3 home runs and 10 RBIs for the Mallards and is an alternate for Team USA who is playing an exhibition schedule currently against teams from the Summer Collegiate Coastal Plains League. In four games so far, he has gone 3-10 with five RBIs.

Trevino will re-join the Mallards after his stint with Team USA, which tentatively is scheduled to be Sunday, July 1st. Trevino was the leading hitter at Oral Roberts this season as he started all 63 games for the Golden Eagles while posting a .317 batting average with 13 home runs and 57 RBIs. Following the season he was named a Louisville Slugger Second Team Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball.

The Mallards play at the “Duck Pond” tonight Friday June 29th to play the second game of their series with the Loggers. Tonight will feature “Duck Pond” LEGO kits presented by briXwerX studios and in-game entertainment by Inflatamaniacs.
