Madison, WI – August 12, 2012. Mallards right fielder Tyler Marincov (North Florida) was announced today as a member of the 2012 Northwoods League Postseason All-Star team. Marincov serves as one of 30 players from around the Northwoods League to be voted on to the honorary team.

The power-hitting outfielder has had a record breaking summer in Madison. In 66 games with the squad, Marincov has hit .312 with 47 RBIs and 13 home runs. His home run total is good for third in the Northwoods League, while his batting average is tops on the team. Entering this season the Mallards previous franchise record had stood at nine. With the help of a blistering month of June, in which he hit .387 with 13 home runs and 25 RBIs, Marincov broke the mark in record time by hitting his 10th home run on July 6th.

Marincov serves as the lone representative for the Mallards this season. Across the league Alexandria’s Ben Moore (Alabama) was named Northwoods League Player of the Year, while Wisconsin’s Jack Fischer (Wake Forest) was awarded Northwoods League Pitcher of the Year. La Crosse’s Andy McKay was voted Northwoods League Manager of the Year in his final season with the club.

The Madison Mallards are part of the 16-team Northwoods League. The Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other Summer Collegiate Baseball League in North America.
