Rodgriguez then hit a chopper back to May and caught the runner in a rundown to preserve the shutout. May struck out second baseman Brandon Krieg (Purdue) to end the game to give the Mallards their first shutout of the season.
The Mallards scored both of their runs in the fourth inning off of Woodchucks reliever Austin Orewiler (Rice). Reuvekamp knocked in second baseman Erik Forgione (Washington) on a groundout to second and third baseman John LaPrise (Virginia) knocked home designated hitter Geonte Jackson (San Jacinto CC) with a single up the middle one batter later.
