Madison, WI – July 18, 2014. In the third inning of the Madison Mallards game against the Willmar Stingers last night at the “Duck Pond,” one lucky fan won $10,000 when Mallards designated hitter Pete Alonso roped a line drive to the gap in right-center field. Alonso chugged into third to record his first triple of the year, and with the base hit, Valorie Ballweg of Waunakee, Wisconsin won the prize of the Charter Triple The Excitement Promotion. The prize awards a fan $10,000 if a Mallards player hits a triple in the third inning.
Valorie is the first fan to win the promotion, and the Mallards will present her with the check in a pregame ceremonial check presentation later this season at the “Duck Pond” with Charter Communications representatives present.
