The Mallards and UW Health Sports Medicine will be offering a series of Baseball Clinics at the “Duck Pond” during the 2015 season. These clinics will focus on developing pitching mechanics, off-speed pitching mechanics and swing fundamentals and power. The clinics will be coached by Mallards Manager Donnie Scott, current Mallards players and assistant coaches, and UW Health Sports Medicine personnel.
The cost for each clinic is $40 which includes lunch and a ticket to that night’s Mallards game. The rain date for all clinics is Monday, August 3, 2015. Information on each clinic is listed below. To sign up for the clinics CLICK HERE.
Clinic 1 – Developing Pitching Mechanics (Ages 8-13)
Friday, June 12, 2015 – 9:00 am-Noon
This clinic is intended to teach and promote proper pitching mechanics to improve pitching efficiency and reduce risk of injury. This is the critical age for young pitchers to learn good fundamental movement patterns and practice habits. Included in this clinic will be pitcher specific warm up, arm conditioning and mechanical drills with a splash of fun competition!
Clinic 2 – Developing Healthy Off-speed Pitching Mechanics (Ages 12-16)
Thursday, July 16, 2015 – 9:00 am-Noon
This clinic is targeting youth pitchers who would like to learn or refine off-speed pitching to become a more complete and effective pitcher. Mallards pitching staff will review proper grips and effective and proper ways to throw off-speed pitches. The clinic will include education, demonstration and drill work for pitchers to utilize during self or team practice.
Clinic 3 – Developing Swing Fundamentals and Power (Ages 13-16)
Thursday, July 23, 2015 – 9:00 am-Noon
This clinic is targeting older baseball players who are interested in refining their swing mechanics and developing power. The clinic will cover mental and physical preparation and training drills to facilitate productive hitting for the more experienced hitter. There will be a good balance of education from an experienced Mallards hitting coach and functional exercises from experienced performance and rehabilitation specialists.
Clinic 4 – Developing Swing Fundamentals and Power (Ages 9-12)
Thursday, July 23, 2015 – 9:00 am-Noon
This clinic will be targeting the younger hitters looking to develop fundamentally sound baseball swings. The experienced staff will cover proper stance, grip and the individual phases required for efficient hitting. There will be multiple drills covered in small group stations to reinforce concepts covered by the clinic instructors.

The Mallards open the 2015 season at the “Duck Pond” on Tuesday, May 26th at 6:35 pm against the Kalamazoo Growlers. Mallards single game tickets go on-sale Saturday, April 25th at 9:00 am.
