Having scored 27 runs across their last four outings, the Mallards (4-3, 27-16) will travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin to take on the Kingfish (2-5, 18-25) in the second game of a two-game set. The first game of the series took place on Tuesday night with the Mallards coming out victorious by a final score of 7-1. Joe Stefanki (San Jose State) delivered the go-ahead two-out, two-RBI single in the seventh while Nico Hoerner (Stanford) tallied three RBIs of his own.
Madison will send Frank German (North Florida) to the hill in Wednesday’s contest, as he looks to continue the roll he’s been on in 2016. The freshman from Lutz, Florida has been a staple of the Mallards rotation this season, posting a 2-1 record with a 2.38 ERA. The right-hander has struck out 19 batsmen in 22.2 innings of work across six starts this summer.
Charlie Hecht (Georgia College) will be making his eighth start of the season, owning a 1-2 record with a 5.00 ERA. In his last outing against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, Hecht allowed six runs (four earned) on eight hits in four innings of work. Opponents are hitting .268 against the right-hander this year.
Madison sits at 4-3 in the second half of the 2016 Northwoods League season, finding themselves in a six-way tie at the top of the South division seven games in to second-half play.
The game tonight will get underway at 7:05 pm from Historic Simmons Field in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
The Mallards will return to the Duck Pond on Thursday, July 14th, to take on the Rockford Rivets at 7:05 pm. The contest will feature a Pepsi Double Decker Pizza Bus Maynard bobblehead giveaway.
