Madison, Wis. After playing a phenomenal game on Saturday night at Warner Park, The Mallards (2-3) hit the road to face the Green Bay Bullfrogs at 1:05 Sunday afternoon. The Mallards dominated the Bullfrogs last night as Madison tallied 20 runs, committed zero errors, and allowed Green Bay to score just once. Every Mallard in the lineup tallied multiple hits, but centerfielder Doran Turchin (Illinois) put on an absolute show. He reached base in each of his six at bats, totaled six RBI and a grand slam. Turchin is now batting .421 and has ten RBI.
After the offensive outburst last night, Mallards put up impressive numbers at the plate. Jeffrey Mitchell Jr. (California) arrived to Madison yesterday and was in the lineup as the designated hitter. He tallied three hits in six at bats and also knocked in a run. Kian O’Brien (Madison College) collected three hits last night and is now batting .333 through 21 at bats. The Madison bats will look to stay hot and continue to dominate the Bullfrog pitching.
The Mallards are set to start Ryan Schmitt (Illinois) who has made one appearance out of the bullpen this season. He tossed two scoreless innings on opening night and struck out three. Schmitt will look to follow Luke Matheny’s impressive start last night.
