Madison, Wis. – The Madison Mallards (3-5) are set to open a four-game home stand at Warner Park after going 1-2 on their first road trip this season. After falling in Green Bay on Sunday afternoon, the Mallards powered their way to a 12-6 win on Monday night. Yesterday, the Mallards lost a 2-0 lead in the late innings after a stellar outing by Simon Rosenblum-Larson (Harvard), and fell 3-2. Today, the Mallards welcome the Rockford Rivets (4-4) who are coming off of a two-game sweep of the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders.

Madison’s Doran Turchin (Illinois) has been deadly in the middle of the Mallard lineup as he’s batting .429 in 28 at bats. The centerfielder has driven in 14 runs and hit three home runs. Out of the bullpen, David Stover (Marietta College) has been lights out as he has appeared in four games, tossing seven innings and allowing zero runs. Stover has tallied three strikeouts and walked just one batter.

For the Rivets, third baseman Cal Aldridge has led the way offensively. Aldridge owns a .464 average, tallying 13 hits in 28 at bats. Aldridge has shown an impressive sense of the strike zone as he’s both walked and struck out four times.

Scheduled to start for the Mallards tonight is Matt McCarty. McCarty, a freshman from Louisville, has made one start this season for the Mallards and lasted 2.2 innings against the Lakeshore Chinooks. McCarty will look to bounce back with a strong outing on Wednesday evening.

Set to oppose McCarty is Rockford starter Anthony Dahl. Dahl has made one start for the Rivets this year and went 4.0 innings, allowing one unearned run and striking out five. He held Wisconsin Woodchuck batters to a .143 batting average.

First pitch is set for 6:35 this evening against the Rivets. The Mallards will host a food drive for Willy St. Co-Op Night. Gates are scheduled to open at 5:00 PM.
