Madison, Wis. – The Madison Mallards (4-4, 23-20) are returning to Warner Park tonight to take on the Lakeshore Chinooks (5-3, 23-20). The Mallards are coming off a two-game sweep of the Green Bay Bullfrogs and have won three of their last four ballgames.
The Madison offense found its footing in Green Bay as the Mallards showed a great approach at the plate last night, drawing ten walks. Also, each of the top four Mallards in the lineup reached base multiple times. Overall, the Mallards scored 20 runs over two ballgames against the Bullfrogs and will look to continue the offensive outburst at Warner Park tonight.
Scheduled to start tonight for the Mallards is Tristen Bayless. Bayless, a Texas A&M southpaw, has made two starts this season and has worked seven innings. Bayless has allowed only six hits and has tallied seven strikeouts. In his last outing, Bayless went four innings and struck out a pair against the Battle Creek Bombers.
Set to oppose Bayless is Lakeshore starter Austin Jones. Jones has also made a pair of starts this season and has yet to allow an earned run. He has pitched nine total innings and has issued only three walks while holding opposing batters to a .194 ERA. The Mallards offense will look to get after Jones after tallying nine total runs in two games off of Green Bay starting pitchers.
