The Madison Mallards (16-16, 35-32) welcome the Green Bay Bullfrogs (10-20, 22-43) to Warner Park tonight for a 7:05 PM start. The teams played in Green Bay on Monday night and the Mallards dominated in a 14-4 victory. Trailing by a game and a half for the final playoff spot in the South Division, the Mallards need to finish with victories down the stretch.
In the Mallards big win on Monday, the offense pounded 12 hits and drew 12 walks off the Bullfrog pitching. Matt Elsenpeter (NDSU), Doran Turchin (Illinois), and Brock Weimer (SIUE) all went yard Cade Bunnell (Madison College) racked up three RBI. The Mallards will look stay hot at the plate after most players had an off day and some played in the Major League Dreams Showcase yesterday.
Scheduled to take the mound for Madison is UW-Whitewater righty Heath Renz. Renz will be making his 12th start of the season and will look to improve his 3-2 record. This summer, Renz owns a 4.32 ERA and has racked up 42 strikeouts. Renz will look to continue the Mallards dominance of Bullfrog batters as the Mallards pitching staff has held Green Bay to a .225 team batting average this season.

The Mallards own a 5-2 record against the Bullfrogs this season as they head into the final showdown of the summer tonight. Madison has outscored the Bullfrogs by a fifty runs this year as they have scored 78 runs and allowed only 28 in the seven ballgames.

Madison catcher Brock Weimer (SIUE) has been scorching hot at the dish lately as he is five for his last ten at the plate. He hit a home run in Green Bay on Monday night and has also scored three runs over his last three games.
Shutdown Shilling
Madison reliever Luke Shilling (Illinois) has been effective out of the Mallards bullpen as he has worked 5.1 straight scoreless innings. Shilling has racked up nine strikeouts and has only allowed one hit over his last three appearances. As a team, the Mallards pitching staff has been effective as they have allowed only 12 earned runs the last five games
