The Madison Mallards of the Northwoods League have announced their schedule for the 2018 season. Click here to view the schedule.
The Mallards will open up their season at the Duck Pond against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters on Tuesday, May 29th at 6:05pm. The opener starts a short two game home stand to open the season. The schedule is highlighted by a three game home stand July 3rd-5th as well as playing the final five Saturdays of the season at the Duck Pond.
The Mallards play 14 home games in May/June, 15 in July, and seven in August. This summer’s Mallards schedule features 16 games on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
“The Duck Pond will be rocking and rolling from day one next spring.” said Mallards General Manager Tyler Isham. “ We look forward to our best season yet, and are excited to plan out an amazing promotional schedule for fans of all ages to enjoy in 2018.”
The first half of the season will be complete at the end of play on Tuesday, July 3rd, with the second half beginning on Wednesday, July 4th. The first and second half division winners from both the North and South Divisions will qualify for the playoffs along with the next best two overall records from each division. The Northwoods League playoffs will be August 13th-17th.
For the fifth consecutive year, the Mallards will host the Northwoods League Major League Dreams Showcase on Tuesday, August 7th. This exhibition double header will feature the top prospects in the Northwoods League. The players will be voted by and selected by Major League Baseball scouts. Game one is scheduled for 4:05pm, with game two at 7:35pm.
“We are thrilled to continue to host the Major League Dreams Showcase for the sixth consecutive year,” said Isham. “Bringing the top players in the Northwoods League to Madison and allowing them to compete in front of Major League Baseball scouts is always one of the highlights of the year at the Duck Pond. We look forward to partnering with the Northwoods League Foundation on this event again in 2018.”
