The Madison Mallards have announced the signing of three pitchers for the upcoming 2018 season. Brian Morrell (Notre Dame), Dalton Morrow (Southwest Baptist), and Tanner Rogen (Oral Roberts) will bolster the Mallards pitching staff this summer.

Morrell, a 6-foot freshman pitcher from Shoreham, NY, joins the Mallards after his freshman season with the Fighting Irish. The righty had a dominant high school career at Shoreham Wading River High School in Long Island as he broke an area record with six career no-hitters. Overall, Morrell tossed 213.0 innings and totaled 295 strikeouts and 23 wins with a career 1.15 ERA during his four years at Shoreham Wading River.

Morrell’s impressive high school performance earned him a No. 3 overall prospect ranking in New York and he was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 35th round of the 2017 MLB Draft. The freshman has worked in six games this season at Notre Dame and has struck out five over 4.1 innings.

Morrow, a 6-foot sophomore lefty from Willard, Missouri, will head to Madison after his season at Southwest Baptist. The southpaw has accumulated an 8-3 record this spring and has pitched 96.0 innings while maintaining a 3.47 ERA.

Morrow has struck out more than ten batters in three separate starts this season, including a 14-strikeout performance in a three-hit complete game shutout against Northeastern State. Overall, Morrow has totaled 83 strikeouts while issuing only 34 walks.

Rogen, a 6-foot-3 junior righty from Gillette, Wyoming, is finishing up his first season at Oral Roberts after playing two years at Scottsdale CC. The junior has appeared in nine games this season and owns a 2-2 record. Last season at Scottsdale CC, Rogen pitched 53.0 innings, started nine games and posted a 4-5 record.
