Madison, Wis. – The Madison Mallards return to the Duck Pond this afternoon to take on the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders in game two of a two-game home-and-home series. After splitting their opening set with Rafters, the Mallards went 1-2 on their road trip to Green Bay and Fond du Lac and hold a 2-3 record going into today’s ballgame. First pitch is at 1:05 PM and gates open at 11:30 AM.

 

Probable Pitchers

 

  • Ryan Kutt, a righty from the University of Illinois, is set to make his first start as a Mallard. Kutt pitched on May 31 against the Bullfrogs and worked 1.1 innings out of the pen, allowing two baserunners and striking out one. Kutt. This spring with the Fighting Illini, Kutt pitched 19.0 innings and held a 3.79 ERA through 17 appearances.

 

  • Righty Jon Young is slated to make his first start for the Dock Spiders today. The sophomore from Indiana Wesleyan University has made one appearance out of the bullpen this summer, going 4.0 innings and allowing three hits while striking out two.

 

Players to Watch

 

  • Mallards designated hitterTyler Plantier (Richmond) has seen his bat heat up during the road trip as he now leads the Mallards with a .412 average and has seven total hits.

 

  • Utility man Jake Randa(NW Florida St.) has also gotten off to a hot start, holding a .381 average with four doubles through five games.
