Madison, Wis. –  The Madison Mallards (10-8, 38-16) are coming off of the All-Star break on an eight-game winning streak and a league-best 38-16 record. The Mallards take on the Rockford Rivets (4-15, 22-31) tonight at 7:05 PM at Warner Park. Gates will open at 5:30 PM and make sure to bring your dog for Animart Bark in the Park! While currently holding an eight-game winning streak, the Mallards have allowed less than four runs per game over their last ten contests. Meanwhile, the Mallards offense has scored 60 runs over the last ten ballgames and own a .290 average over that span. The Mallards are 3-1 against the Rivets this summer and have collected six home runs. Outfielder Drew Campbell (Louisville) has totaled nine hits in 21 at bats against Rockford this season and four of them went for extra bases.

The Mallards plan to send Notre Dame righty Brian Morrell to the mound tonight to take on the Rivets. Morrell will be making his seventh start of the summer and will look to improve his 2-0 record. Morrell has worked 30.2 innings this season and owns a 2.34 ERA. Morrell has lasted 5.0 innings and allowed zero earned runs in back-to-back starts and has allowed only four hits in his last 13.0 innings of work. In his only outing against the Rivets this summer, Morrell tossed 5.0 shutout innings in Rockford on June 20.

 

Players to Watch

 

OutfielderJake Randa (NW Florida State) currently leads the South with 66 hits and 21 doubles. Jack-Thomas Wold, who has 15 doubles, sits in second place behind Randa. Randa collected a pair of doubles in the NWL All-Star game on Tuesday night. Randa currently holds a .327 average and has nine hits over his last six games.

 

OutfielderDrew Ober (UNC-Charlotte) has raised his average to .287 after collecting 12 hits over his last ten games. Ober has knocks in five of his last six games and has knocked in 17 runs through 39 games this summer.
