Mallards Wrap Up Homestand
Madison takes on Lakeshore at 7:05 PM
Madison, Wis. – The Madison Mallards (15-11, 43-19) take on the Lakeshore Chinooks (11-15, 27-34) tonight at Warner Park at 7:05 PM. Tonight’s game features the former Madison Mallards and World Series champion, Derek Fisher, bobblehead giveaway. Gates open at 5:30 PM so arrive early to secure your bobblehead.
The Mallards split a doubleheader with the Rockford Rivets yesterday, winning in Rockford 3-1 in the morning before falling 4-1 in the nightcap. The Mallards still hold a 6.0 game lead over the Kalamazoo Growlers in the overall standings in the Northwoods League.
Probable Pitchers
The Mallards are scheduled to start Illinois righty Sean Leland tonight against the Chinooks. Leland owns a 3-2 record this summer and has a 3.91 ERA. Leland will be making his ninth start of the season and will looking to bounce back from a rough outing last time out. Leland will look to find the stuff that drove him to a strong start against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters on June 19 when he went 6.0 innings and allowed only one run on three hits while striking out seven.
Lakeshore is scheduled to start Kevin Tibor tonight in Madison. Tibor is 4-5 this season with a 2.44 ERA through 59.0 innings. Tibor has walked only nine men while striking out 32 through nine starts. Tibor pitched against Madison on June 12, lasting 6.0 innings and allowing three runs on eight hits.
Players to Watch
Infielder David Vinsky (Northwood) owns a 12-game hit streak and has drawn seven walks over the last four games. Vinsky holds a .381 OBP, the highest mark he has achieved since mid-June.
Outfielder Trevor Boone (Oklahoma State) has been hot at the dish recently, collecting a hit in five straight games. Boone has three RBI in his last four games and had a total of three knocks yesterday between the two ballgames against the Rivets. Boone has 21 hits through 32 games this summer.
