Last night the Madison Mallards jumped right back into the win column after defeating the Green Bay Booyah (6-4) 5-2. The Mallards are now 9-1 and remain first in the Great Lakes West division standings.

Another explosion on offense helped propel the Mallards to victory. In the bottom of the second inning the Mallards bats came alive. Scoring four runs, powered by four timely singles, the Mallards silenced Green Bay until the top of the ninth. Even with a two-run home run by Green Bay to rally in the ninth, their resilience was no match for the Mallards pitching staff.

The key player for the Mallards was starting pitcher, A.J. Archambo (Oral Roberts). Archambo took a no hitter into the sixth, before allowing a bunt single to Justin Green (Louisiana Lafayette).

Tonight, the Mallards compete against the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (6-4) for the first time this season. The game marks the first time the teams are meeting since the Mallards 2018 postseason loss to the Dock Spiders. The Dock Spiders are in a three way tie for second place with the Green Bay Booyah and Wisconsin Woodchucks in the Great Lakes West division.

Making his second start and third appearance for the Mallards is RHP, Trevor Marreel (Washburn). His first start was against the Wisconsin Woodchucks on June 1. During his time on the mound, Marreel has earned nine strikeouts, a 1.22 ERA, and allowed only three walks.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM and the game will feature Save the Bees Night with a Beekeeper Maynard bobblehead giveaway, presented by Dentistry for Madison: Dr. Jay Hazen. Tickets in the Great Dane Duck Blind will also go towards saving the bees, as $5 of every ticket sold using the Save The Bees promo code will be donated to the Community Groundworks Beekeeping program. Gates open at 5:35 PM. For tickets and more information visit mallardsbaseball.com. Make sure to catch every Mallards game on The Zone, 1670 AM and 96.7 FM.
