Last night the Mallards beat the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 10-7 in a thrilling three-run walk-off home run by Justice Bigbie (Western Carolina). This victory marks the first time the two teams have met since last summer, when the Dock Spiders defeated the Mallards in the postseason to send the team home early.
The Mallards and Dock Spiders went back and forth during the game, with the lead changing hands three different times. Going into the ninth inning, Madison and Fond du Lac were both tied at 7.
In the bottom of the ninth Bigbie became the hero for the Mallards after hitting a three-run home run to secure the Mallards tenth victory of the season. After being mobbed by his teammates at home plate, Bigbie was named Impact Player of the Night.
Tonight, the two teams will close out their series at the Duck Pond. First pitch is set for 6:05 and Eliot Turnquist (Madison College) is the starting pitcher for Madison.
Turnquist is making his debut on the mound after completing his freshman year at Madison College. The Wisconsin native pitched 37.1 innings, earning 51 strikeouts and allowing only 18 walks. The right hander finished his school season with a 1.69 ERA.
