The Mallards are hitting the road for the third time after securing their eleventh win of the season. Madison is traveling to Wisconsin Rapids to compete against the Rafters in a two game series, followed by a quick trip to Green Bay.
The two game series at Witter Field marks the second meeting between the in-state rivals. The first occured on May 30 and 31, where the Mallards earned a sweep.
In the Northwoods League Great Lakes West division, the Mallards remain in first place. In the same division, the Rapids Rafters have dropped into fourth place with five wins, seven losses and are six games behind the Mallards.
Suiting up on the mound for the Mallards in game one is Lowell Schipper (Richmond). Schipper is making his third start for Madison, his last appearance was against the Lakeshore Chinooks on June 3. Schipper currently owns a 1-0 record and a .90 ERA. Over his previous outings he has earned 11 strikeouts and allowed only six walks. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
Quinn Gudaitis (Illinois Wesleyan) is wrapping up the series as the starter for game two. Gudaitis will also be making his third start of the season. His last start was on June 4 against Lakeshore. He holds a 2-0 record and a 3.72 ERA. Over his past two starts he has pitched 9.2 innings and earned 12 strikeouts. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
Once the series against the Rafters concludes, the Mallards will make their next stop to Capital Credit Union Park to compete against the Green Bay Booyah. The single game will be the second encounter for the teams. The previous series ended in a split as Green Bay handed Madison their first and only loss on the season.
