Tonight the Madison Mallards debuted as the Wisconsin Cheese Curds (30-15) against the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (20-25), and pulled off a thrilling win, 6-4, with a three-run walk off home run. The walk-off home run by Justice Bigbie (Western Carolina) gave the Mallards their 30 win of the season.
The Cheese Curds were hot in the bottom of the second, scoring two quick runs from a two-RBI double by EJ Ranel (Lenoir-Rhyne) to take a 2-0 lead. Crawling back in the top of the fourth, Tim Elko (Mississippi) put the Dock Spiders on the board with a solo home run.
Wisconsin held on to the 2-1 lead until the top of the seventh. A three-run home run blasted by Tate Kolwyck (Vanderbilt) put the Dock Spiders over the Cheese Curds 4-2.
The Cheese Curd bats remained silent through the eighth, gaining the opportunity to pull off a come-from-behind win.
In the bottom of the ninth, Logan Michaels (Virginia) stepped up to the plate with two men on with two outs. Knocking an RBI single, Michaels brought the Cheese Curds within one, 4-3. Following Michaels, Bigbie smashed a three-run home run to walk it off and triumph over the Dock Spiders 6-4.
The walk-off from Bigbie is his second of the season, the previous also being against the Dock Spiders at home on June 7.
Brian Weissert (Fordham) earns the win for the Cheese Curds after powering through two inning, retiring six out of seven.
Max Cioffi was awarded the loss for the Dock Spiders after giving up the three-run walk off home run to end the night.

Michaels’ RBI single in the bottom of the ninth brought in a run and put a runner in scoring position.
Top Cheese Curds
- Bigbie went 2-for-5, and hit the three-run walk off home run. He was named Impact Player of the Night for his contributions.
- Weissert stepped on the mound in the eighth and retired six out of seven batters he faced through two innings pitched.
- Ranel hit a two-RBI single to put Wisconsin on top early in the game.
- Lowell Schipper (Richmond) had a strong start on the mound for the Cheese Curds. He threw five innings, striking out three.
