Last night, the Madison Mallards (36-23) notched another triumph over the Lakeshore Chinooks (28-31) to finish out their five-game homestand. Despite sloppy defense by both teams, the game ended in a 12-6 win for the Mallards.
This afternoon, the Mallards and Chinooks will conclude their series. Todays series finale marks the last set the two will play during the regular season.
Trevor Marreel (Washburn) is making his twelfth appearance on the mound, his eighth start on the season. Over his 34.1 innings pitched, he has accumulated 26 strikeouts and allowed 20 walks.
After the Mallards and Chinooks complete their competition, Madison is back on the road to Athletic Park to square up against the Wausau Woodchucks (27-32).
Madison and Wausau are set for a two-game series, the second game will take place at the Duck Pond. This is the first time the teams are meeting since the All-Star break and the last time the teams will meet each other during the regular season.
In the overall Great Lakes West Division standings the Woodchucks are in fifth place, nine games behind second place Mallards. During the second half of the season, the Woodchucks have fallen to last place in the division and sit two games behind the fourth place Mallards.
The Mallards are back in front of their home crowd Wednesday July 31, to close out their series with the Woodchucks. July 31 is Harry Potter Night at the Duck Pond. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m., gates will open at 5:35 p.m.
