Yesterday, the Madison Mallards (39-27) dominated over the Rockford Rivets (32-34) 12-3 in the series finale at Rivets Stadium. Propelling the team to victory was the Mallards’ offense, as it used an eight-run top of the first inning to blow past Rockford and earn a series split.
Today, the Mallards are returning to the Duck Pond after splitting series on the road against both the Rivets and the Battle Creek Bombers (22-44).
The Bombers will be making their way to Warner Park for the first time this summer, to compete in their second and final series against the Mallards during the regular season. The overall meeting between the teams after the Mallards road trip is 1-1.
On the bump for the Mallards is Brody Gibson (Oral Roberts). The right hander is making his eighth start and fourteenth overall appearance for Madison. He has accumulated 32 strikeouts and allowed only 26 walks across 40.2 innings. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
Madison is in the final stretch of the summer as tonight marks one of three home games left for the regular season.
The evening will serve as Alliant Energy STEM Night. Gates will open at 5:35 p.m.
