WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WIS. – The Mallards traveled to Wisconsin Rapids, WI to take on the Rafters after their 7-1 win over the Green Bay Booyah on Sunday.

The Mallards starting pitcher Ernie Day (Iowa Western) had a strong performance, going 5 2/3 innings and striking out 9 batters.

It was a pitchers duel for certain, as Day battled against the bullpen of the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. Even with his strong performance, the Mallards could not get the win.

The Rapids struck early in the 1st inning, with Marco Castillo driving in a run with an RBI single to give them a 1-0 lead.

The Mallards offense did not have trouble getting on base, but they were unable to drive home any runs. With bases loaded in both the 5th and 6th innings, the Mallards could not find a way to get that one hit they needed to tie the game up. They left a total of 12 runners on base throughout the game.

In the 6th inning, Addie Burrow drove in 2 more runs for the Rafters with a double to give them a 3-0 lead, which would end up being the final score of the game.

Zach Storbakken (Madison College) had a strong night at the plate for the Mallards, going 3-4 with a double.

The Mallards will look to bounce back as they travel home for another game against Wisconsin Rapids at 6:35 PM on Wednesday night.
