WAUSAU, WIS.  —  The Madison Mallards went on the road to face the Wisconsin Woodchucks at Athletic Park in Wausau after dropping their previous two games.

Mallard starter Jacob Baldino (Virginia) gave up two earned runs on three hits in the bottom of the 1st before settling down and pitching three more no-hit innings prior to Donnie Scott turning to the bullpen.

The Woodchucks jumped on the board first with two runs on two 2-out singles in the bottom half of the first.  Madison added one run in the 5th on a Bryant Shellenbarger (Akron) single, before a Joseph Kalafut (Edgewood) sac fly tied the game in the 6th.  The very next batter JT Benson (Louisville) drove a 2-run home run to straightaway centerfield to put the Mallards up 4-2.

The Woodchucks bounced back in the bottom of the 8th, scoring a run on a single before a wild pitch and an error allowed 3 runs to score unearned.  The Mallards were unable to scratch anything across in the top of the 9th and dropped their third straight 6-4.

Woodchucks reliever Peyton Schofield (1-0, 3.60 ERA) came away with the win, Thomas Kane (1) picked up the save, and Terrell Hudson (1-1, 7.20 ERA) was charged with the loss for the Mallards.

Next up for the Mallards is a rematch tomorrow against the Woodchucks.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm in Wausau.
