The Madison Mallards avoided the rain and hosted the Green Bay Booyah on Thursday night, coming away with a tight 7-5 win for their 10th win of the season.
The Booyah put the pressure on the Mallards right away, going up 4-1 in the top of the 3rd inning. They scored two in the first on a two-out rally and then Max Wagner (Clemson) hit his first of two home runs on the night to drive home two.
The Mallards got a run in the first inning on an RBI-single from Alex Iadisernia (Elon) and then got another back in the 4th on an RBI-double from Tyler Dean (St. Edwards).
Then the Mallards had their big inning in the 5th. Cam Cratic (Missouri State) led off the inning with his third home run of the season, and Iadisernia hit his team-leading fourth home run to drive home two.
Iadisernia continued his hot night at the plate when he hit an RBI-double off the wall in the sixth inning.
Mallards starter Eliot Turnquist (UW-Milwaukee) pitched five innings for the Ducks, allowing four earned runs and striking out five. Christian Horner (Palm Beach Atlantic) pitched two scoreless innings out of the pen before Sam Vomhof and Kade Lancour combined to get the last six outs with Lancour getting the save.
Tonight was the first of a two-game set with the Booyah in Madison. Tomorrow night’s first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. with the Mallards holding the every batter beer-batter promotion at the Duck Pond.
