The Madison Mallards went looking for a sweep in the second game of a two-game set against the Green Bay Booyah.
Mallard starter Ryan Lauk (Wagner) secured a quality start, pitching six solid innings while allowing just three earned runs, all in the bottom of the 4th. Ryan Cabarcas (Florida) and Kade Lancour (UW-Whitewater) shut down the Booyah for the final three innings of the game.
The Mallards were on the board first with three runs on two singles in the top half of the 3rd. One of the runs was driven in by Bryant Shellenbarger (Akron), the other two were from JT Benson (Louisville). After the Booyah tied the game in the 4th, Cam Cratic (Missouri State) drove in what would prove to be the game winning runs with a two RBI single with two strikes and two outs in the top of the 5th. The Mallards would go on to win the game five to three.
Ryan Lauk (2-2, 3.94 ERA) left with the win, Kade Lancour (4) picked up the save, and Mykel Page (0-1, 2.08 ERA) was charged with the loss for the Booyah.
The Mallards next game is at home in Madison against the Wisconsin Woodchucks. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm at Warner Park.
