After last night’s win, the Mallards look to secure another win during their Michigan road trip, starting in Kalamazoo against the Growlers.

With a slower start to the very beginning of the game, the Mallards started the action in the top of the 2nd inning.

Mallards’ Michael Fuhrman (UC-San Diego) lobbed one out to right field to bring Shellenbarger (Akron) home scoring the first run of the game.

Gonzalez (University of South Florida) made one out to left field allowing the DH for the night, Cratic (Missouri State) to make it home giving the Mallards another run.

The Growlers’ Williams (Notre Dame) shot one out to left field past Mallards’ left fielder Scannell (Princeton) making the score 2-1 in favor of the Mallards.

In the top of the 3rd inning, with bases loaded and only one out, Dean (St. Edwards) was able to allow Baldwin (Missouri State) to run home. Cratic (Missouri State) was also able to run home making the lead 4-1.

Then, in the top of 4th inning, Scannell (Princeton) slammed one out of the park for a home run taking the Mallards lead to 5-1.

Hudson (University of New Mexico) came in to pitch for the Mallards in bottom of the 5th inning, relieving starting pitcher O’Hara (University of Illinois).

The Growlers were able to rev things up on their end during the bottom of the 5th inning, scoring runs to make the score 5-4, still in the Mallards’ favor.

The top of the 6th inning brought about some errors and confusion keeping the score 5-4.

Haley (University of New Mexico) came in to pitch for the Mallards to start the bottom of the 6th inning and was able to get the Mallards out of the inning quickly.

Later on in the bottom of the 7th inning, Madison brought in Fong (Washington University in St. Louis) to replace Haley (University of New Mexico).

The Mallards were able to bring in runs back to back in the top of the 8th inning bringing the score to 7-4, still in Madison’s favor.

Madison sealed the deal in the bottom of the 9th by barring Kalamazoo from scoring any more runs.

The Mallards continue their Michigan road trip tomorrow as they head north to face the Traverse City Pit Spitters at 6:05 pm.
