The Mallards lost their third extra inning game of the season Thursday
Madison, WI – Madison and Green Bay opened their two-game series at Warner Park on Thursday night with the Rockers stealing game one, 3-2.
Both starting pitchers turned in their best outings of the year at the Duck Pond. For Green Bay, Kyle Stoddard held Madison hitless through six innings. Isaiah Jackson singled home Owen Jackson to give the Mallards a 1-0 lead in the 7th. Madison’s Will Simmons tossed seven innings without allowing a run until the Rockers plated two in the top of the 8th. Cuyler Zukowski led off with a double and Austin Fawley’swalk came around to score against Jax Traeger out of the Mallards’ bullpen.
With Green Bay leading 2-1 entering the bottom of the 9th, Davis Hamilton hit his fourth home run of the year on the first pitch thrown by Michael Riley to tie the game in front of 6,000-plus fans at Warner Park. Madison loaded the bases with one out and couldn’t score the game winning run against Riley.
In extras, Green Bay’s Fawley doubled against Traeger on the opening pitch to score the extra runner, Zukowski. Madison went down without a fight in the bottom of the 10th.
