Madison snaps their four-game skid with a 3-1 win over Wausau on Tuesday
Madison, WI – Madison and Wausau made up their postponed game from July 9th on Tuesday night. The Mallards were able to break out of their four-game losing streak with a 3-1 win against the Woodchucks.
After struggling against starting pitching in the first five games since the All-Star Break, Madison was able to attack first and take a 2-0 lead on Jake Goolsby’s sixth home run of the summer. Jacob Kisting, who grew up coming to games at Warner Park, earned his first start of the year and turned in four quality innings, only surrendering one hit.
Donnie Scott’s Mallards were able to extend their lead to three on Davis Hamilton’s 4th inning that scored Jake Schaffner, who showed good poise at the plate in the 18-year old’s debut for Madison. Wausau’s lone run came on a solo homer hit by Trent Van Ess in the top of the 7th off the eventual winning pitcher, Andres Kleinsek. Jack Bennett picked up his first save of the campaign in his second outing of the week.
Madison travels to Mequon to take on the Lakeshore Chinooks tomorrow night at Moonlight Graham Field at 6:35 P.M. CST.
