The Northwoods League released the 2005 schedule for its 12 affiliate teams on Tuesday. In 2005, the Madison Mallards will play 28 of 34 scheduled home games at the Duck Pond between Thursday and Sunday. Madison opens the season at home on Wednesday, June 1 against the Mankato MoonDogs. Following the series with the MoonDogs, the Mallards host the Duluth Huskies in a rematch of the 2004 NWL Championship.

Madison starts the season with 10 of its first 12 games at home. The Mallards will take on the two NWL expansion franchises, Brainerd and Eau Claire, for the first time in the opening two weeks of the 2005 season. Madison travels to Brainerd on June 5 and returns home to host the Eau Claire Express on June 8. Madison will play half (17 games) of its 2005 home schedule during the month of June. The Mallards will play 21 of 34 first half contests at the Duck Pond. The first half of the 2005 NWL season ends on July 7, 2005. Madison concludes the 2005 season with a two game series against in-state rivals the Wisconsin Woodchucks at the Duck Pond starting on Saturday, August 13.
