In a game that didn’t have a lot of meaning to the Madison Mallards, the Alexandria Beetles capitalized and defeated the Ducks 4-1 Monday night in Alexandria. With many of the Mallards in the field being pitchers, the Mallards only had three hits on the day with Mike Dury knocking in the lone Mallards run.

Shaun Corning started the game for the Mallards, giving up three earned runs while striking out four in four innings of work. Quite impressive in his Mallards pitching debut was Mike Rohde. The Brookfield, Wisc. native blew away Beetle batters, striking out six in three innings without surrendering a run.

The Mallards begin their run at a Northwoods League Championship tonight at 7:05 PM at the Duck Pond against the first-half champion La Crosse Loggers. Mallards playoff tickets are currently available at the Mallards office located at Warner Park, or online at www.mallardsbaseball.com. Reserved tickets cost seven dollars, bleacher reserved tickets cost six dollars and fifty cents, and general admission tickets cost six dollars. Playoff tickets are refundable.
