THE DUCK POND – Thursday night’s ninth inning is not one the Madison Mallards want to remember.

Holding a 1-0 lead, the Mallards committed five errors and allowed four runs to lose to the Rochester Honkers 4-1 in a Northwoods League game watched by 4,643 fans at Warner Park.

In addition to the errors – two of which were by shortstop Mike Rozema – the Honkers had four hits off losing pitcher Tyler Bullock in the ninth.

The collapse gave Rochester (33-21 overall, 13-10 second half) its third straight win and snapped a four-game winning streak for Madison (33-21, 11-11).

Left fielder Francois Larmore scored the Mallards lone run on a throwing error by the Honkers. Larmore finished 1-for-3 with a double.

Jake Hansen and D.J. Roshone combined for eight shoutout innings for Madison.
