Dr. David Bernhardt | Team Physician | UW Health Sports Medicine
Dr. David Bernhardt specializes in primary care sports medicine. He is board certified in pediatrics and fellowship trained in primary care sports medicine. He is a team physician for the University of Wisconsin Athletics Department. In his role, he provides medical coverage for Badger men’s basketball, cross country and track, as well as women’s volleyball, and crew. His special interests include medical and musculoskeletal problems in athlete along with obesity and sports medicine.
Dr. Brian Grogan | Team Physician | UW Health Sports Medicine
Dr. Brian Grogan is a board certified orthopedic surgeon. A native of Janesville, Wisconsin, he obtained his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency on active duty with the United States Army at San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio Military Medical Consortium, Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. After graduating, he deployed to Afghanistan and fulfilled his service obligation at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Ft. Hood, Texas.
Dr. Grogan completed fellowship training in Shoulder, Elbow, and Sports Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center, New York, New York and served as a Fellow Team Physician for the New York Yankees (MLB), New York City FC (MLS), Rockland Boulders (CANAM), and Columbia University football (NCAA Division I). His clinical interests include the operative and non-operative treatment of shoulder, elbow, and sports injuries with additional expertise in upper extremity arthroscopy and joint replacement.
Matt Uftring | Head Athletic Trainer | UW Health Sports Medicine
Matt Uftring is a licensed athletic trainer with UW Health Sports Medicine and has been working with the Mallards for over a decade. In addition to his athletic training responsibilities for the Mallards, Matt is the Head Athletic Trainer for Waunakee High School.
He also assists in coordinating medical coverage for the Madison Marathon.
John Fowler | Athletic Trainer | UW Health Sports Medicine
John Fowler is a licensed athletic trainer with UW Health Sports Medicine. In addition to his athletic training responsibilities for the Mallards, John works in Orthotics at UW Health Sports Medicine and is the athletic trainer for Belleville and Pecatonica High Schools.
In his free time, John enjoys taking in roller derby and quidditch matches. He is proud of his collection of the Golden Snitch.
