Thunder Bay Border Cats Announce Official Naming of Tbaytel Park

THUNDER BAY, ONT. (Feb. 27, 2014 ) – The Thunder Bay Border Cats organization is proud to announce that Tbaytel has obtained the exclusive field naming rights for Port Arthur Stadium. Starting with the 2014 baseball season, all home games will now be played at the newly named Tbaytel Park.

“We are very pleased to be expanding our corporate partnership with Tbaytel to now include the naming of our home field,” says Thunder Bay Border Cats owner Brad Jorgenson. “We would like to thank Tbaytel for their ongoing commitment to the Border Cats organization and we look forward to seeing what the 2014 season will bring.”

Port Arthur Stadium officially opened in 1951 and has been providing a venue for various sports and entertainment events in the city of Thunder Bay ever since. The stadium, which is located at 425 Winnipeg Ave., has been home to the Border Cats since they were first founded in 2003 and was also home to the Thunder Bay Whiskey Jacks of the Northern League from 1993 to 1998.

“Tbaytel is a strong supporter of the Thunder Bay Border Cats and the high caliber of baseball the team delivers to our community,” says Tbaytel President and CEO Dan Topatigh. “We are proud to be continuing with the stadium’s rich history of over 60 years in our community and we are thrilled that the home of Border Cats baseball will now be Tbaytel Park.”

The 2014 season is scheduled to begin at Tbaytel Park on May 27, 2014 as the Thunder Bay Border Cats host the St. Cloud Rox starting at 7:05 p.m.
