The 2014 MLB Draft wrapped up Saturday with eight former Border Cats and one player from the 2014 roster being selected. (note: year played for the Cats in brackets). Pitcher Caleb Smith (2013), was picked in the 15th round, 446th overall, by the Milwaukee Brewers. A pair of Cats alumni were picked back-to-back in the 16th round as pitcher Matt Cooper (2012), went 468th overall to the Chicago White Sox. Third baseman Jason Vosler (2013), went next at 469th overall to the Chicago Cubs. Pitcher Ryan Powers, who is on this year's Thunder Bay roster but has yet to report, was picked in the 22nd round, 652nd overall, by the Philadelphia Phillies. Powers attends Miami of Ohio University. Outfielder Jerrick Suiter (2012), was taken in the 26th round, 791st overall, by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Pitcher Matt Blackham (2013), was selected in the 29th round, 865th overall, by the New York Mets. Pitcher Ryan Atwood (2013), was taken in the 30th round, 897th overall, by the San Diego Padres. Canadian born second baseman/pitcher Michael Foster (2013), went in the 38th round, 1126th overall, to the Houston Astros. Brett Doe (2010), who played with the Cats as shortstop, and is now a converted catcher, was also taken in the 38th round, 1130th overall, by the Minnesota Twins.
