The Border Cats made it back-to-back wins over Alexandria as they rallied from an early 5-0 deficit to beat the Blue Anchors 9-7 Wednesday night at Tbaytel Park. The Cats put together three big innings, scoring three times in the bottom of the 4th, a pair of runs in the 5th and three more in the 8th. Michael Daley (Kean University) did an outstanding job in relief of starter Ben Allison (Belhaven University). Daley got the win as he pitched 5 1/3 innings shutout innings, allowing just two hits, while striking out four. Yuji Suzuki (Concordia University-St. Paul) got the final six outs for his first save. With Alexandria's Kris Goodman at the plate, Thunder Bay centre fielder Cory Kay (Missouri State University) made a spectcular running catch up against the wall for the final out as the Blue Anchors left the bases loaded to end the game. Tyler Rolland (Southern Illinois), Nick Studer (Doane College), Robb Paller (Columbia University) and Sal Taormina (Kean University) all collected two hits for the Cats as they improved their first half record to 5-11. The Cats four game homestand continues tonight with the first of two games against the St. Cloud Rox. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 at Tbaytel Park.
