NOLAN STARTS OFF SERIES WITH A BANG                          

The Thunder Bay Border Cats improved their record to 4-1 at home with a 5-4 win over the Alexandria Blue Anchors Friday night at TbayTel Park. The Cats overall record improves to 5-5.

Nate Nolan (St. Mary’s College) produced a two run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Nolan then went on to hit a line drive down the third base line in the bottom of the ninth with only one out doubling home pinch runner Kyle Comer (Minnesota – Duluth) with the winning run as the Cats rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning for the comeback victory.

Greg Weissert (Fordham University) started the Border Cats off strong allowing only one run on two hits and three strikeouts over five innings, while Mitch Kuebbing (Longwood University) closed the game with a scoreless inning to pick up the win in relief.

The Cats look to sweep the Alexandria Blue Anchors Saturday night at 6:05pm EST.
